Annual Trek Outfit Hiking Trip: Grand Teton Adventure – Day 3 Exploring Jenny Lake and Cascade Canyon
Our final day in Grand Teton started off on a high note with a stunning deer sighting near our Airbnb. It was a serene reminder of the beauty and wildlife that the Tetons have to offer. Fueled by excitement and a quick breakfast, we geared up and set out for the day’s adventure.
Morning: Discovery Trail and Jenny Lake
We began our journey on the Discovery Trail, a scenic path that led us to the boat launch at Jenny Lake. The morning was crisp, and the lake was calm, reflecting the towering peaks of the Tetons in its clear waters. At 11:00 AM, we boarded the boat to cross to the other side of Jenny Lake, ready to tackle the hike up to Inspiration Point.
Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point
Once on the other side of the lake, we set out toward Hidden Falls. This short, scenic hike through lush forested trails brought us to the stunning waterfall, where we paused for a few photos and to take in the refreshing mist of the falls. Our Trek Outfit Trekking Poles – Multifunctional with Navigation Tools (Shop Now) provided excellent support on the rocky, uneven path, helping us navigate the challenging terrain effortlessly.
From Hidden Falls, we continued our ascent to Inspiration Point, located at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The climb was steep but absolutely worth it. As we reached the top, we were greeted with sweeping views of Jenny Lake below and the distant peaks stretching across the horizon. With our trekking poles in hand, we took a moment to celebrate this achievement and capture the breathtaking scenery.
Afternoon: Cascade Canyon and Moose Sighting
Around noon, we ventured deeper into Cascade Canyon, where the trail opened up to reveal expansive views of glaciers perched on the Grand Teton's upper reaches. The cool breeze from the cascading streams added to the magic of the place, making it the perfect spot for a midday trek.
While hiking through Cascade Canyon, we had a moose sighting! This gentle giant was grazing by the creek, providing an unforgettable wildlife encounter that left us all in awe. We made sure to keep a respectful distance, observing the moose in its natural habitat while snapping a few pictures.
Lunch at Cascade Creek
For lunch, we found a picturesque spot by Cascade Creek, a serene location surrounded by wildflowers and shaded by towering pines. We settled down, unpacked our sandwiches, and took in the tranquility of the canyon. Conversations flowed as we shared our favorite moments of the trip, all while enjoying the peaceful sound of the running creek.
Return to Jenny Lake and Evening Wrap-Up
After a fulfilling lunch, we began our journey back toward Jenny Lake, reaching the boat dock around 3:20 PM. The boat ride back provided a perfect opportunity to reflect on the day's adventures and take in the final views of the majestic Tetons towering over the lake.
Dinner at Corsa
We concluded our final day with dinner at Corsa, a restaurant that perfectly captures the rustic and laid-back vibe of Jackson Hole while paying homage to authentic trattorias of the Italian Alps. The warm, convivial atmosphere of the main dining room made it an ideal spot to unwind after a day of trekking.
Corsa’s menu features the highest quality fresh and local produce, with a focus on delivering traditional Italian dishes with a modern spin. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly their Neapolitan-style pizza, with its thin, bubble-crust and fresh mozzarella—perfect for sharing and reflecting on our adventure-filled day. The combination of authentic flavors and the welcoming environment made Corsa the perfect place to celebrate the end of our annual hiking trip.
